Iron Man: Extremis Director's Cut #1 Offers Free Motion Comic Download

IronMan_Extremis_iTunesCover.jpgFollowing Marvel’s successful launch of motion comics for Spider-Woman (from Brian Bendis & Alex Maleev) and Astonishing X-Men (from Joss Whedon & John Cassaday), the first chapter of Marvel Knights Animation's newest motion comic, Iron Man: Extremis, is now available. This adapts the storyline from superstar creators Warren Ellis and Adi Granov that changed everything fans knew about Iron Man.

The Iron Man: Extremis motion comic is presented through six episodes priced at only $1.99 each, with an extra-sized premiere running nearly 20 minutes long. Customers also have chance to purchase a “season pass” for $9.99. Iron Man: Extremis is available for download on iTunes, Microsoft Zune, Xbox Live, and Playstation Network, with new episodes available bi-weekly through June.

What’s perhaps most important about this digital release for retailers is that the House of Ideas is tying this new motion comic’s launch into several traditional comic releases. In each copy of the 56-page Iron Man: Extremis Director's Cut #1 (MAR100549D, $3.99) — new to shops Wednesday, May 26 — your customers will find a redemption code for a free part one download from the PlayStation Network. This should be an added draw to this special printing of a definitive Iron Man story. In addition to the first chapter of "Extremis," this new comic also features never-before-seen bonus material like preliminary artwork, script pages, layouts, and much more!

Consumers will be also able to pick up free PlayStation Network redemption cards for parts two through six, respectively, when they pick up Iron Man: Extremis Director’s Cut #2 (MAR100550D, $3.99), #3 (APR100596D, $3.99), #4 (APR100597D, $3.99), #5 (MAY100608D, $3.99), & #6 (MAY100609D, $3.99).

Additionally, your customers that buy any of the following titles will find a card within each one allowing them to redeem part one of the Iron Man: Extremis motion comic for FREE on iTunes

Please Note: Each redemption card will present a unique code.

The Iron Man: Extremis motion comic carries a mature rating because of the violent scenes depicted in the T+ (13 and up) rated graphic novel. Be advised that the motion comic may not be appropriate for children. On iTunes, the motion comic is rated for those 17 and up.

With these redemption offers, you should see firsthand how motion comics can be used as a promotional tool for your business and the comics industry as a whole.

Iron Man: Extremis is one of the pre-eminent Iron Man stories, thanks to the amazing work of Warren Ellis and Adi Granov,” explained Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada. “Just as the Iron Man: Extremis comic book forever changed how we see Iron Man, the motion comic adaptation represents the next evolution of the medium.”

Staying true to their source material, Marvel Motion Comics utilize each story’s original art and scripts while adding seamless motion, dynamic voice acting, and stunning special effects to deliver a whole new way to experience some of the greatest storylines in Marvel Comics’ history.

“Having the chance to work on something created by Adi and Warren has been a dream come true,” Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media Ruwan Jayatilleke explained. “As the lead producer on this motion comic, I am thrilled with all the effort and  energy that Magnetic Dreams, Edge Studio, Underground Music, and NYAV have thrown into this project—creating an incredibly compelling series of animated content! I don’t want to give away any of the surprises, but once you see Tony Stark suit up and Iron Man take flight, you’ll know just why I am so excited.”
